The Hitmakers – Ventilator (2021) – A few general mishaps occurred trying to record this track in October. Stu slipped on some deep-fryer grease in the hallway and sprained his ACL and MCL. He had to finish the session in the facility wheelchair but maintained a quiet dignity about it. Simon had a big choke at the kit somewhere between the 20th and 25th take. I can’t remember exactly but I think it was a Macintosh apple that did the dirty work. Luckily, J.P. is a registered nurse and applied a textbook maneuver that sent the blockage flying out across the room. A close one. On take 31, Jeremy got electrocuted when he stepped to the mic and let out one of those high-pitched, frenzied panic screams which really broke the tension during a long session. The guys had a good chuckle but Jeremy’s tiny hands wouldn’t stop shaking after that. Hot towels from the microwave helped a little. That explains some of the erratic guitar playing on the master take.
On behalf of the band, I hope you enjoy this little number and can appreciate the effort that went into making it. There might be a delay in new recordings while Stu and Jeremy receive medical treatment. Thanks for listening fans (can we start calling you guys MakerHeads? I think we can…).
Sincerely,
Henry P. Moses - band advisor (and friend)
